We're looking for an Intermediate Full Stack Developer to join our Digital & Data team and help deliver the digital products and services that support New Zealand businesses on the world stage.
This is a hands-on role for a Full Stack developer who enjoys working across both front-end and back-end technologies, contributing to new features, product enhancements, integrations, maintenance, and operational support across a range of digital products.
What you'll be doing
Building and enhancing customer-facing and internal digital products.
Developing across both front-end and back-end technologies.
Working closely with Product Managers, Designers, Analysts, Testers and fellow Developers in agile squads.
Contributing to solution design, development, testing and deployment.
Supporting existing applications through incident resolution, maintenance and continuous improvement.
Using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to accelerate delivery while applying sound engineering judgement.
Building secure-by-design solutions and applying secure coding practices, including authentication, authorisation and the safe handling of sensitive data.
Managing dependencies and remediating vulnerabilities to keep our digital products secure and healthy.
Reviewing AI-generated code to ensure it meets NZTE's quality, security and privacy standards.
What you'll bring
You'll likely have 4-6 years of commercial software development experience working at enterprise level, be confident delivering production-ready features end-to-end. You're able to work independently, take ownership of your work, and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience in the following or equivalent is required:
React
Node.js
TypeScript / JavaScript
Azure cloud environments
NoSQL or Graph databases
Agile delivery environments
Secure software development practices, including authentication, authorisation, vulnerability management, and the secure handling of secrets and customer data
AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot or equivalent
